Summary: Not As Good As The First
Comment: I just completed the second book of this series. It wasn't nearly as good as the first book, but it was still entertaining. The mystery aspect of this novel is just as good. I got sucked into the book as soon as she met the vampires in Dallas. The whole aspect of the Fellowship of The Sun is very interesting.

The novel started to bother me when it began to dive into the taboo.. what in the world is a Maenad? The fact that the novel starts to address such areas as homosexuality, group sex parties, etc. really was perhaps on the extreme side. Charlaine may have gone a bit too far on this one. Hopefully the Taboo and orgies get tuned down in the next books because it distracts from the story and Sookie's character.

Summary: Nicole Eglinger's Reviews
Comment: Another awesome book for Charlaine Harris. A must read. If you loved True Blood you will love these books much better and Thanks to Alan Ball for making this into a HBO Seris. Well written and very imaginive.

Summary: Not as good as the first, but still a fun read
Comment: I agree with some of the previous reviewers ~ I don't think this one was nearly as good as the first, but it's still pretty darn good. It had me staying up later than I needed to just so I could read a little bit more. And when I was finished, I couldn't download #3 fast enough. I'm a big fan of the series, and if you've read the first book, you should definitely read this one.

Summary: I'm Hooked on Sookie!
Comment: This book is just as good as the first one! And since I don't have HBO (True Blood series) the characters were all new to me. I'm hoping Santa will bring me more books in the series, I've been a very good girl this year!!

Summary: What a Heroine!
Comment: We hit the ground running in the second Sookie Stackhouse novel, which builds well on the first one. As a reader, I am a chicken (couldn't get through the second Lee Child novel, for example) and a particularly scary scene in Living Dead in Dallas made me set the novel down for a few days & wonder if I'd ever get back to it. I did, & I'm glad I did, but I have to warn fellow chickens that there is quite a body count in this one. The love triangle between Sookie, Bill, and Eric is electric & original. I was really struck by Sookie's temerity and humor. The novel widens its cast of mythical and weird characters. Charlaine Harris's writing is beautifully crafted and she KNOWS how to manage a plot.

Editorial Reviews:

When a vampire asks Sookie Stackhouse to use her telepathic skills to find another missing vampire, she agrees under one condition: the bloodsuckers must promise to let the humans go unharmed.
