Customer Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT SERVICE Comment: BOOK WAS RECEIVED IN A TIMELY MANNER AND WAS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION, AS
DESCRIBED...WOULD NOT HESITATE TO PURCHASE FROM THIS SELLER AGAIN.
Customer Rating: Summary: Nina, it's booorring; it's been done...tiresome, darling Comment: Nina, what were you hoping to achieve besides capitalizing on your Project Runway fame? Do you really think "every" stylish woman must own these pieces? Oh, sure, you say this is only your take, but you also say "every" woman "must" own them. A caftan? An iPod? Why a white shirt? Sure, every "capsule wardrobe" list seems to include a little black dress, a white shirt and perfect black trousers/skirt, but what if you really look better in cream or can't seem to avoid spots of coffee no matter what you do? Havainas? Do you really want to tell me Carolina Herrera owns Havaianas--glorified flip flops? This is just a list of the catchy "it" items any halfway awake person could have culled from the last decade of fashion magazines and maybe one "classic" style book--the kind that tells you you have to have a white shirt, a little black dress, a trench coat, a cashmere turtleneck, etc....regardless of your lifestyle, climate, body type, coloring. Would-be stylistas, save yourself some dough. Get Tim Gunn's book and let him help you be yourself, not some magazine harpy's composite of "hot" items.
Customer Rating: Summary: Solid, classic advice Comment: The One Hundred is, it is important to note, a listing of the 100 essential wardrobe pieces Nina Garcia feels are important for her. "A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own" is therefore a little misleading. That said, the book is common sense and fun. Some items...good not only for Ms. Garcia but for almost every woman who cares about style and clothing....are pretty self-evident: the well-cut navy blazer, the evening clutch. Others are a little more exotic and probably more suited to Ms. Garcia's New York, haute couture world than to the rest of us. The book did inspire me to do a little inventory of my own...what I have, what I don't have and don't want, and what I would like. The writing style is comfortable and casual...altogether a good book and a handy guide to those who want to have a wardrobe which contains those pieces which will last across the years.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous, Fabulous Book Comment: I'm amazed by Nina Garcia's actual talent here. I thought she'd just be a one note sort of harp, but she's actually very good at the bookwriting gig. Her tips here are great, and she's got a lot of know it all to offer everyone. This is one of those books you have to have if you are a fashion person, plus Ruben's illustrations are worth the price alone.
Customer Rating: Summary: The One Hundred - not much new Comment: Although this book does have some good ideas and tips, it feels like a constant reminder that we SHOULD be doing our shopping at Louis Vitton, Sax, and Bloomingdales. I was really hoping for more information that was addressed to the majority of us who actually work for a living. And although I love good, quality clothes and accessories, I don't see myself wearing Manolos, Jimmy Choos, or a Hermes scarf (but wouldn't I love them!) in my life as a teacher. There are still a lot of good tips, but I've found the Lucky style books more to my liking.

"Simply put, these items make me feel classic. And there is no substitute for feeling this way. Ever."In the wildly popular The Little Black Book of Style, fashion authority Nina Garcia showed women how to think about personal style in an entirely new way. Encouraging readers to creatively assert their style identities, Nina showed women of all ages how to hone and self-edit a distinct fashion voice. With her style philosophy firmly out in the world, Nina decided to address the most popular question readers consistently ask her: Exactly what are fashion's timeless pieces? The One Hundred answers this question and provides women with a tangible style map to follow when planning a shopping trip and stocking one's closet. With illustrations from world-renowned fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo, The One Hundred contains the 100 items that Nina believes will never go out of style, and that have become absolutely indispensible for any woman reaching for her own eternal fashion look.
