Rachael Lorenz Wants to Help Men Score

Comprehensive personal stylist specializes in polishing dating skills.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 20, 2005 -- Most of those who’ve tried internet dating and enjoyed the convenience of being able to find other singles online have also probably experienced another less appealing aspect of the process.

Many who’ve tried on-line dating speak of finding someone who seems great, making a date to meet in person, and then being completely frustrated by the lack of face to face chemistry.

Enter Rachael Lorenz, a personal stylist based in San Francisco who’s dedicated herself to improving the dating pool in the City-by-the-Bay.

“Most often the trouble seems to be with men who haven’t taken the time to refine their dating skills,” says Lorenz. “Younger types, the no-life-work-addicts, have invested so much energy in their careers that their romantic lives have not been a priority. As a result when they finally go on a date, they don’t have a clue. Another group of men are those that I call “neo-daters” - these are guys who’ve been married and divorced and are just getting back into the dating scene – they’re usually over 40. They’ve forgotten what they learned in their twenties about how to present themselves – this makes them so self conscious that they make goof after frustrating goof.”

Lorenz, who’s background includes a career as a model recruiter in New York, and long relationships with some of the most noted names in fashion retailing, has found a way to improve the sexy index for men with less than perfect dating skills.

“I start with the wardrobe and hair, and work through basic elements of etiquette for a total dating makeover,” says Lorenz. “First impressions are paramount, so that’s why I like to start on clothing and grooming”.

Lorenz finds that the most common styling errors are those that evolve from a general lack of focus on detail.

The top ten are:
1. Ill fitting suit/sport jackets – sleeves too long, shoulder seams droop off the shoulder (resulting in a baggy back of the jacket or riding up around the collar).
2. Short socks.
3. One pair of comfortable shoes and his favorite belt worn with everything.
4. A cell phone as an accessory clipped on belt.
5. Eyewear that mimics the shape of his face (i.e. round face/round rimmed glasses).
6. Nose hair, back hair, moustaches, and goatees.
7. Weekend clothes that look as if he borrowed them from a six-year-old (i.e. ball cap, slogan T-shirt, and sneakers worn with gym socks).
8. A windbreaker or anorak jacket worn with anything dressy.
9. Brown belt/black shoes or vice versa.
10. A sport watch with a suit.

“Once you’re aware of these issues, it’s relatively easy to work around them,” says Lorenz. “It’s also helpful to get an objective opinion from a stylist. Many men pick out clothing for the wrong reasons. They’ll choose a type of shirt because it’s what their father always wore, never mind that it might be wildly out of style and ill fitting”.

Rachael Lorenz has been a superstar in the fashion consulting, merchandising, and sales world for more than 18 years. During her career she’s worked with such noted organizations as Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, and Anne Klein.
