CUPERTINO, Calif. – August 24, 2005 – SwapThing, Inc., the premier online
platform enabling individuals, collectors, businesses and communities to swap
goods and services online, has partnered with Classface, Inc., a subsidiary of
Bolt, Inc., bringing SwapThing's functionality to their growing online high
school network. Classface is a social networking community that connects high
school students from more than 40,000 schools across North America. The
partnership will extend SwapThing's distribution reach to high school students,
while the integration of SwapThing's service will give Classface users an easy
and safe arena for swapping.
SwapThing's platform will allow Classface
users to swap music, clothes, DVDs, games and books, all within the confines of
their high school. Classface's closed high school network of students provides a
safe and secure environment where students can swap with other students at their
school and even arrange to meet on campus to conduct an exchange.
The
addition of swap functionality to Classface's site offers students a free and
easy way to get what they want. Students are always in control of their swaps
and only have to accept deals that they like. The Flexible Swap System allows
any combination of goods, services and cash to balance an unequal deal.
SwapThing with be fully integrated into the Classface community by
October, bringing the world of barter to high school students across North
America.
“Working with Classface enables us to expand our mission of
bringing online communities an easy way to exchange goods and services, while
giving high school students a safe way to swap,” said Jessica Hardwick, chief
executive officer of SwapThing. “Our Flexible Swap System increases the number
of swaps a user can engage in by allowing them to quickly and easily find
swapping partners who have what they want and want what they have.”
“Our
partnership with SwapThing provides our users a fun, safe and easy way to trade
last semester's paperback for a friend's CD, or help with their homework for
guitar lessons,” said Michael Silverstein, project manager of Classface.com. “At
Classface, we like to make sure our users have access to the latest and most
engaging online services, while also maintaining the security of our community.”
