WNNJ'S Zach Martin: A Stern Replacement? New Rating Numbers Very Impressive
Zach Martin proven ratings booster for public relations firm K2 Global Communications and radio stations.
New York, NY (PRWEB) August 8, 2005 -- WNNJ-FM (103.7) air-personality Zach
Martin is on a ratings roll. In the last two books, Martin has made significant
gains for a suburban signal with limited resources. He dominates in the key
25-54 male demo coming in a close second to Stern (signed with Sirius satellite
radio) with an impressive 17.9 Share and in Sussex Martin Comes in Number three
behind Stern. Martin's ratings have increased by 55% with persons 25-54, from a
28 to a 3.4 with a 12.2 share.
Martin, on every morning (with sidekick
Heather Donnelly and celebrity-bio writer Mark Bego on Mondays and Fridays) beat
out every other New York station, including long-time am champion WABC. He even
beat out Jim Kerr, Martin's colleague on Q104.3 – on which he is heard each
Saturday night. Martin more than doubles the ratings of the morning show that
comes in third after him.
“Zach's tremendous name recognition, expertise
in media, relationship building, and strategic creative thinking rounds out our
great team,” said Gregory Kelly of K2 Global Communications, “Zach is the
embodiment of K2 Global Communications motto 'Mission First – People Always.'
Martin attributes his trademark sense of community and social responsibility to
his Alma Mater, St. John's University.”
For radio-veteran Martin,
drumming up impressive ratings is not anything new. He was radio-legend Scott
Muni's last on-air producer; joining him whether at The Dakota interviewing Yoko
Ono or producing one of his legendary-British-mixes.
“I grew up listening
to Muni and having had the opportunity to work with him and get to know him …
was something I'll never forget. It was a privilege.”
Martin became
close to Muni and his family and was one of the few radio-people acknowledged by
his family in an historic night put together by the Museum of Radio & TV in
New York. Although already proficient in all things radio-oriented, Muni put his
personal imprimatur on Martin. The two were an unbeatable team.
Martin
also produced all of the interviews for the show, including the likes of Graham
Nash; Bob Geldof; Bon Jovi; Carlos Santana; Jon Anderson; Justin Hayward; Neil
Young; Liberty DeVito; Ian Hunter; Chrissie Hynde; Patty Scialfa; Clarence
Clemmons; and Mick Fleetwood; among others.
“The addition of The Zach
Martin Show in the Fall of 2004 has consistently increased our market share.
Even with New York stations as an option, Zach's live and local approach puts
him on top,” says Ken O'Brien, WNNJ PD.
Martin is also working on a TV
show … utilizing his talents and experiences in the radio world … “It'll be a
reality show all right, based on fact”, he adds.
