Let There be Some "Happy D.A.P.P.E.R.'s"
D.A.P.P.E.R. is a new agency that is trying to cut through the bureaucracy and get some changes going. There is a positive attitude at D.A.P.P.E.R. and this is a key. D.A.P.P.E.R. is trying to help people that have fallen through the cracks of the social services system.
(PRWEB) April 12, 2005 -- Bradley Thomas Horton has formed a new agency to
advocate for people who are Houseless (not homeless) and living with mental
and/or physical challenges. The agency is called "D.A.P.P.E.R." (Differently
Abled Proud People Exercising Rights). It is headquarted in San Luis Obispo,
California and it has only just begun.
D.A.P.P.E.R.'s goal is to give
these wonderful individuals new HOPE! Encouraging them to be proud of who they
are, with whatever challenges they may face. D.A.P.P.E.R.'s standards are high.
We see "the glass" as almost always full. We believe that every single
individual, in "our" world, no matter what the challenges they may be facing,
has the potential to build for themselves, a comfortable and dignified life. Our
goal is to supply the services, support and personal necessities required to
help transform lives.
Currently, there are over 3 million Americans, who
are Houseless. (One example of this situation is in Los Angeles, California. It
is estimated that within a 10 mile square radius, there are 80,000 Houseless.)
Of this greater number, it is estimated that 350,000 are "Differently Abled", or
dis-abled, according to the information acquired by Mr. Horton. These
"Differently Abled" are virtually alone and have nowhere to turn to gain the
skills or means to achieve a better life. They don't necessarily have any kind
of proper support network. This is not acceptable, in this country; the time has
come for someone to reach out, in a new way, and help give these people the same
opportunities that most of us take for granted. D.A.P.P.E.R. is excited and
prepared to provide exactly the help these fellow citizens
need.
D.A.P.P.E.R. is a "for-profit" agency, with an external accounting
source. This will help keep the integrity of the effort. For more information,
