Announcing A Free Public Service For People Who Live Alone: CheckOnMe.org
If you or a special person in your life lives alone, the CheckOnMe.org service may help assure that someone checks on you when you are incapacitated. Rather than rely on the injured or unconscious person to initiate the request for help, this automated system is triggered if the person does not respond when the service "checks" on him or her. And best of all, this basic service is free.
(PRWEB) April 4, 2005 -- The free CheckOnMe.org notification service will
allow anyone to setup an automated notification process that can be designed in
a variety of ways, depending on how the options are set. Here is a basic example
of how someone can use this service:
- A single woman in her 40's lives
alone with her 2 dogs. She is concerned that if something happened to her, no
one would know she was in trouble or to take care of her dogs.
- She can
setup this service to send herself a text message to 2 different e-mail
addresses and one cell phone each morning at 10:00 a.m.
- She can set the
service to accept her reply from any one of these destinations as an indication
that she is fine and responsive.
- The service can then be setup to send a
first-level alert to 2 outside parties when she does not respond by 10:00 p.m.
that evening.
- Additional notifications will continue to be sent out to
other outside parties every 4 hours until the single woman responds to cancel
the alert.
Some expanded services will be made available at cost. It is
hoped that these services may also be provided free to eligible persons in need
through the CheckOnMe.org sponsor network. Examples of expanded services would
be the ability to receive the notification by telephone as a voice message, TDD
or fax, which could incur charges for equipment, long distance and messaging.
iWorkPlace, Inc. is sponsoring and developing the CheckOnMe.org public
service Web site and help center, scheduled to be available to the public in
Fall 2005.
iWorkPlace, Inc., headquartered in Outer Banks North Carolina,
has been in business for twelve years, providing sophisticated integrated
Internet technology solutions to businesses. iWorkPlace has remote operations
based in the greater Myrtle Beach South Carolina metropolitan area, with
secured, state-of-the-art network facilities located in St. Louis Missouri.
iWorkPlace provides premium hosting and design services for serious small
business and large corporation Web site customers in the U.S. and throughout the
world.
iWorkPlace is owned and operated by Steffanie Lynch, who founded
the company in 1995, bringing iWorkPlace over 20 years of experience in
applications design, business analysis, graphical user interfaces, training and
support programs, and leading edge technologies. Ms. Lynch is widely known
amongst Internet communities as "Dr. Webby". She started out in the World Wide
Web as "Ask Dear Webby" for the America Online community, assisting members with
their personal Web page designs through free e-mail support that she personally
responded to. Her free Virtual Library was recognized by PC Magazine as one of
the Top 10 valuable links to visit. America Online recognized Ms. Lynch with the
Web Diner Top Site award for the Complete Web Page Help free
tutorial.
Steffanie Lynch's mission has always been to demonstrate to
others how the Internet can be used to share and provide valuable information to
all. The greatest obstacle in helping Internet "newbies" tap into this valuable
communication tool was typically a fear of technology, prompting Ms. Lynch to
promote her famous motto: Stamp out misoneism (fear or intolerance of innovation
or change).
Initial customers were drawn to iWorkPlace through Ms.
Lynch's free workshops on Internet Promotions, where valuable information was
presented in an educational format without the typical sales pitch. A major
philosophy of the company is "the more you give, the more you receive" and
giving out free advice became the norm at these workshops. This philosophy will
carry over into the formation and operation of CheckOnMe.org, through its
sponsor, volunteer and member-to-member programs.
CheckOnMe.org
encourages other charitable service organizations, churches, emergency services
and public service agencies that provide assistance to people with special needs
and to people who live alone, to help get the word out about this free service.

CheckOnMe.org is interested in any opportunity to promote this free
service at events and group gatherings. By promoting this service before it goes
live, the organization can continue to gather requirements to fine-tune the
application design and make it even more valuable to a greater user base.
Anyone interested in providing an opportunity to distribute brochures
about the new service or obtaining additional information about CheckOnMe.org,
