(PRWEB) April 15, 2005 -- The development of the golf course at Tucan Country
Club & Resort in Panama is currently underway and scheduled to open in the
spring of 2006. Led by Jeffrey Myers of Florida, the course redesign brings the
1940’s course, which was designed by the Army Corps of Engineers for military
recreation, to PGA standards while enhancing the natural beauty of the
course.
“We are taking advantage of the topography to
create dramatic shots while developing a course that is enjoyable for the
members to play,” says Jeffrey Myers, who started his own golf course design
company after serving as Head Designer for Gary Player, “The course will be a
wonderful test for golfers and can easily be converted for
tournaments.”
The design team, which is taking advantage of the natural
canvas and preserving the mature trees, is implementing significant course
renovations, which include relaying all the greens and tees. The fairways and
green settings are blended into the existing landscape. The front nine holes
border the rain forests famous to Panama while the back nine offer panoramic
views of the Panama Canal. The course will reveal a par-72 layout that stretches
6,540 yards from the back tees.
In addition to the
golf course, over the next year, Tucan Country Club & Resort will unveil a
30,000 square-foot clubhouse with a rooftop swimming pool, a spa, tennis club,
gymnasium and shopping area with banking facilities. The property, which broke
ground in 2004, will encompass 424 residences consisting of villas, town homes
and condominiums. Home prices start at just $166,250 for a two-bedroom, 1,350
square foot condominium including membership to the 18-hole, par 72 golf course
and country club. A 100-room boutique hotel will open in 2007.
