The Nation’s Leading Christ-based Counselor Launches a Major Assault Against Social and Emotional Illness

The nation’s leading Christ-based Counselor officially released a series of books designed to address depression, addiction, marital crisis, sexual dysfunction and perversion, and weight disorders.

(PRWEB) July 27, 2005 -- Emphasizing the advantages of a creator-based view of human functioning, Dr. Steven B. DavidSon has identified his counseling approach as Christ-based Counseling. DavidSon explains that the progenitors of the psychological and social sciences based their theories on their assessment of human functioning.

DavidSon agrees that these approaches have value and interests, but his view is that they rely on a false basis. Often, they ignored and ridiculed any creator-related principles for human functioning established ages before they arrived. Also, with the popularity and commercial advantage of Christian counseling, DavidSon discloses that numerous psycho-socio practitioners entered the Christian counseling field in the 1980s and 1990s by sprinkling Bible principles within their therapies. This gained the popularity and acceptance in Christian circles and continues to do so.

DavidSon shares that the problem also dominates many Bible College and seminary programs where their viability is not founded on creator-based approaches. As DavidSon explains it, “they are not assessed on their reliance on creator-based approaches. They receive their credibility based how well they have embraced their secular counterparts.”

DavidSon admits that he is not without his detractors. He shares that a whole industry and a major portion of the economy relies on fad diagnosis, pharmaceutical miracle-promises, and a culture that demands quick fixes. He explains that what he does as a pastoral counselor is a threat, and he expects and receives the scorn of those who are invested in what he calls the, “industry of dependency.” Interestingly, DavidSon embraces medicinal therapy where dire psychiatric conditions exist.

However, as he explains it, “I don’t stand alone in this regard. Any casual observer knows that our nation is over-the-top with prescriptions for emotional functioning. Clearly, the talk-therapies are so ineffective, a patient is almost guaranteed a follow-up to a psychiatrist. Sadly, we are treating symptoms.”

DavidSon who refers to his Christ-based counseling system as a “root-cause” approach, begins with a model based on specific principles in the life of Jesus Christ, and he follows with systematic disciplines. DavidSon became interested in this field in the late 1970s. He is the current Director of Counseling at Westside Baptist Church in Lewisville, Texas, and he is the founder of the National Association of Certified Christ-based Counselors (NACCBC). The books are available at Amazon.com or the NACCBC website at Christbasedcounseling.org. Dr. Paul Carlin who developed Belief Therapy and founded the Therapon Institute in Crockett, Texas calls DavidSon’s concepts the most profound he has ever witnessed.
