Alpine Pictures, Inc. Welcomes John Patrick Amedori to "Love is the Drug"
Alpine Pictures, Inc. in Association with Box Office Productions Welcomes John Patrick Amedori to "Love is the Drug"
(PRWEB) May 7, 2005 -- John Patrick Amedori will be starring as Jonah Brand
in Alpine Picture’s teen drama "Love is the Drug" which is currently filming in
Los Angeles, CA, and co-stars Lizzy Caplan, Daryl Hannah, D.J. Cotrona, Jenny
Wade, and Jonathon Trent.
John Patrick Amedori has already worked with
some of Hollywood’s most notable directors including Cameron Crowe in Almost
Famous, M. Night Shyamalan in Unbreakable and Jonathan Demme in Beloved.
Amedori’s television credits include guest starring roles on notable TV dramas
such as “The Guardian,” “State of Grace,” “Law & Order” and “Still
Standing.”
Most recently Amedori played a lead role in John Stockwell’s
pilot, "Rocky Point," for the WBN. Last year he played the role of the young
Even Treborn (played by Ashton Kutcher) in Butterfly Effect and has just
finished the film Mrs. Harris opposite Annette Bening and Ben Kingsley.
Currently, he is shooting a lead role opposite Missy Peregrym and Vanessa
Lengies in Stick it for Walt Disney Pictures.
Executive Producer, Ryan
Carroll of Alpine expressed “The moment I saw his picture, I saw the face of
Jonah Brand” and added, “John lends a warmth and complexity to the role, and we
are very happy to have such a fine young actor.”
In Alpine Pictures’
"Love is the Drug" Amedori will portray troubled teen Jonah Brand opposite Lizzy
Caplan (Orange County, Mean Girls). Despite his middle class background Jonah
attends one of California’s top private schools (on a scholarship). He lives in
a small house with his single mother, Sandra Brand, played by Daryl Hannah (Kill
Bill Vol. 1, and Steel Magnolias), which sets him apart from the wealthy,
self-indulged student body, and leaves him virtually invisible in their eyes.
During an end of year party, Jonah comes face to face with Sara Weller (Lizzy
Caplan), one of the elite and a girl he has noticed for a very long time. Sara
introduces Jonah to her tight knit group of friends: her boyfriend Troy
(Jonathon Trent), Troy’s wise-cracking best friend Lucas (D.J. Cotrona) and Erin
(Jenny Wade) Sara’s best friend. The selective circle of hard partying friends
introduce Jonah to their freewheeling lifestyle of sex, drugs and their
hedonistic exploration of LA's endless nightlife after learning that Jonah has a
summer job working at a pharmacy and could prove useful to their drug-fueled
revelry. Jonah, overwhelmed by his new popularity, lets his love for Sarah heat
passed the boiling point, leaving everyone scalded by his desire to possess.
"Love is the Drug" which began filming in Southern California on April
25th, was written by Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape Fear, The Glass House)
and is being directed by up and comer Elliot Lester. Casting Directors Anne
McCarthy and Jay Scully of Engine helped negotiate the terms of Amedori’s
contract with Brinda Bhatt of Creative Management Group, and Rodney Omanoff.
Alpine Pictures, Inc. is a 10 year-old independent film production and
distribution company located in Burbank, CA. In addition to Love Is the Drug,
Alpine has just signed a five-picture deal with Resolution Independent of
Australia and has the horror film Vampire Bachelor Party, along with several
other films, currently in development. The company hopes that these efforts will
help make way for it to enter the public arena this year.
