The cast from Love Is the Drug crash Dicky’s Mighty Morning Show
(PRWEB) May 7, 2005 -- Monday morning listeners of Indie 103.1 were
introduced to the cast of Alpine Pictures’ Love Is the Drug during Dicky
Barrett’s Mighty Morning Show.
Cast members Lizzy Caplan (Orange County,
Mean Girls, ‘Freaks & Geeks’), John Patrick Amedori (Unbreakable, Butterfly
Effect, Little Athens), Jonathon Trent (Delusion, Smile, Boy Culture), Jenny
Wade (Monster-in-Law, Project Green Light, Ice Harvest) and D.J. Cotrona (Skin,
Backwater) of Alpine Pictures’ teen drama Love Is the Drug surprised Dicky
Barrett, host of Indie 103.1’s Mighty Morning Show when they dropped by early
Monday morning.
Dicky Barrett, former lead singer of the band ‘The
Mighty Mighty Bosstones,’ recently joined the amazing line-up of DJ’s at Indie
103.1 as the new morning voice for the ‘Mighty Morning Show’ which airs from
around 7a.m. to 10a.m. weekdays. The station format, song selection and
personalities (which include Crystal Method, Henry Rollins, and the Sex Pistols’
Steve Jones) are causing a huge sensation throughout Los Angeles, leaving the
other stations wondering what button to push next.
The morning show is
no exception. On Monday’s ‘Mighty Morning Show’, Dicky talked with the cast of
Alpine Picture’s Love Is the Drug, which is currently filming in Los Angeles.
Directed by Elliott Lester, the film focuses on the lives of five teens in Los
Angeles during their last summer before college and how drugs, love, and the
pressures of responsibility affect and shape their lives. Lester says of the
film, “It is a fresh story, but if pushed it could be loosely reminiscent of
Foxes (1980) or Less Than Zero (1987) with a bit of The Talented Mr. Ripley
(1999)” adding “If pressed really hard, cinematically it has a certain feel
similar to Requiem for a Dream (2000), but it is completely it’s own story”.
"Love is the Drug" was written by Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape
Fear, The Glass House) with Steve Allison handling re-writes. Alpine Pictures,
Inc. is producing the film in association with Box Office Productions, LLC with
Executive Producers Ryan Carroll, Roland Carroll and Neil Kaufman. The film is
directed by Elliott Lester with Matt Aberle as music supervisor and casting
handled by Anne McCarthy and Jay Scully of Engine.
Alpine Pictures, Inc.
is a 10 year-old independent film production and distribution company located in
Burbank, CA. In addition to "Love is the Drug", Alpine just signed a
five-picture deal with Resolution Independent of Australia and has the horror
film Vampire Bachelor Party, along with several other films, currently in
development. The company hopes that these efforts will help make way for it to
enter the public arena this year.
