Hal "The Drummer Man" Blaine to Receive First 'Legends Award" at the Cape Breton International Drum Festival May 1st 2005
Hal Blaine strikes again - worlds most recorded drummer to receive inaugural "Legends Award" at the 5th Year Celebration of The Cape Breton International Drum Festival.
(PRWEB) April 22, 2005 -- The Cape Breton International Drum Festival (April
30, 2005 to May 1, 2005) announced today that world famous drummer, Mr. Hal
Blaine, is the first recipient of the annual Cape Breton International Drum
Festival’s, Legends Award. Outstanding individuals, who have greatly influenced
the course of drumming, and its music history, will be honored, each year, with
this award.
Festival organizers, Bruce & Gloria Aitken, and Director,
Mike Megaffin, are very pleased to have Hal Blaine as the premiere winner of the
Legends Award.
Said Bruce Aitken, "Hal Blaine's life of drumming is
truly a legendary human achievement. We are very honored to present Hal with
this award and have him forever be a part of the spirit of our festival." Mike
Megaffin added, "Hal Blaine is a cornerstone of the drumming pyramid. Hal's DNA
is the building block for drumming."
Hal Blaine is a prolific musician
and is considered to be the world's most recorded musician. In less than a
quarter of a century, from 1959 to 1981, the Hollywood-based drummer performed
on over 8,000 recordings. Hal was the drummer man to the stars during the
greatest and most influential timeline in the popular music of the 20th century.
It is a much easier task to list the names of artists and bands that Hal did not
play with, than to include the thousands that he did - from Andy Williams to
Warren Zevon. Hal’s big beat propelled the golden hits of the airwaves, and the
soundtracks and the movie scores, of television and the silver screen. There
will never again be another musician who simply dominates in their field of
play. On March 6, 2000, Hal Blaine was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of
Fame, on the strengths of his contributions as a studio musician. Hal Blaine is
a living legend and rightly becomes the precedent for this honor.
The
Cape Breton International Drum Festival, 2005, is being staged at the theatre of
dreams - The Savoy Theatre (ECMA Nominated Venue of The Year, 2005) in Glace
Bay, just outside of Sydney, Cape Breton Island, from April 30th to May
1st.
