Aviation Art Dealer Sig Unander will Display Paintings, Prints, & will Discuss the Actions of the 201st Sqd. of the Mexican Air Force in WWII at Oregon Chapter 8th AFHS Meeting
A presentation about the Mexican 201st Sqd which flew P-47 "Thunderbolts" in the Pacific during World War II will discussed at the Or Chapter of the 8thAFHS. Prints of that unit, as well as other aviation art prints, will be displayed. Original members of the 8th Air Force who flew in combat over Europe will be in attendance.
(PRWEB) May 11, 2005 -- On Saturday May 14th the Oregon Chapter of the Eighth
Air Force Historical Society will hold its quarterly meeting at the Beaverton
Elks Lodge starting at 10:30 A.M.
Sig Unander, aviation art dealer based
in Cornelius Oregon ( http://www.airartnw.com/ 1-503-359-0424), will talk about the
Mexican Air Force during World War Two. The print commissioned depicting their
contribution to victory in the Pacific is "Strike of the Aztec
Eagles!"
There is no cost to attend the meeting and it is open to the
public.
The "Mighty Eighth", is the United States Army Air Forces Bomber
and Fighter Command that, during World War II, flew strategic daylight bombing
missions against Germany from July 4, 1942 until May 8, 1945 - VE Day - in
Europe.
The meeting doors open at 10:00 and the meeting adjourns at 2 PM.
Social hour starts at 10:30. Call to order of the meeting starts at
11:30.
Lunch is available at the Elks Lodge and costs $9.50 per person.
Lunch is served at Noon and consists of sandwiches, rolls, condiments and coffee

Meetings
are held on the first Saturday of the first full week of February, May, August,
& November.
People interested in learning more about the 8th Air
Force, or to pass on what they know to others concerning the 8th AF contribution
and other aviation unit histories that brought victory to the Allies in the
European theatre of war (ETO) or other world locations, are encouraged to join
the Oregon Chapter. Please fill out a form at the meeting. The annual dues is
$10. In addition, you have to join the national organization whose dues are $25
a year. The national chapter puts out a quarterly magazine while the Oregon
chapter puts out a quarterly newsletter.
Money contributed above the
annual dues is normally tax-deductable.
