to announce the launch of the CareGivers Unite Online Auction. The Caregiver
Unite online auction raises funds to provide a much needed break for caregivers.
Care giving is very stressful, physically straining and generally
creates a financial hardship on the caregiver. Most caregivers have to balance a
job and care giving. These demands can be and very often are all consuming. Most
care recipients are female (65%) and many care recipients are widowed (42%). One
in five care recipients is between the ages of 18 – 49years and nearly eight in
ten care recipients is age 50 or older.
The Caregiver Unite fund is
designed to help family member caregivers who devote more than 40 hours a week
to their care giving duties. The fund will pay for a 1-3 day weekend break to
give the caregiver a chance to recharge and relax. Ninety percent of the funds
raised will be used to operate the program. The funds will pay for airfare and
hotel expenses for selected caregivers. Sponsors are being sought to donate
items to the auction. Bidders and sponsors who donate cash can pay online using
