Faith & Values Media Announces Election of Rabbi Alvin K. Berkun to Board of Trustees
National Interfaith Cable Coalition, Inc. (NICC), doing business as Faith & Values Media, today announced the election of Rabbi Alvin K. Berkun to its Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees has policy-making and fiduciary responsibility for Faith & Values Media, the nation’s largest coalition of Jewish and Christian faith groups dedicated to media production, distribution and promotion.

(NICC), doing business as Faith & Values Media, today announced the election
of Rabbi Alvin K. Berkun to its Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees has
policy-making and fiduciary responsibility for Faith & Values Media, the
nation’s largest coalition of Jewish and Christian faith groups dedicated to
media production, distribution and promotion.

have established him as a leader in the Conservative Movement of Judaism. His

Rabbi Berkun is vice president of the Rabbinical Assembly and is a
member of the National Council of Synagogues, Administrative Committee. He is
also the Financial Secretary to the Rabbinic Cabinet.
Rabbi Berkun
served at the Tree of Life Congregation in Pittsburgh, Penn., as the sixth rabbi
in its history. During his tenure, he founded the Rabbinical Assembly Region
serving Western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Kentucky and was appointed the
congregation’s inaugural president. In addition, he also founded the State of
Israel Bonds’ Rabbinic Cabinet and was a member of the UJA Rabbinic Cabinet.
Prior to his duties at the Tree of Life Congregation, Rabbi Berkun
served at Temple Beth Sholom in Hamden, Conn. Highlights during his 15-year
tenure at Temple Beth Sholom include founding and establishing the first hospice
in the United States; election as President of the Connecticut Valley Region of
the Rabbinical Assembly; and appointment to the Rabbinical Assembly Membership
Committee.
Rabbi Berkun was ordained at the Jewish
Theological Seminary in 1966 and received an honorary doctorate in
1992.
The 15-member Board of Trustees is made up of
Christian and Jewish religious leaders and communication and business leaders.
