Children’s program will take place in Buffalo, New York, at the JFK Center on Hickory Street.
(PRWEB) July 28, 2005 -- The SumoKids Foundation, which has registered for
not-for-profit status as a 501 (c) (3) corporation, will hold a free SumoKids
Sumo Wrestling Clinic at the JFK Center, 114 Hickory Street, Buffalo, NY, on
Tuesday, August 16. The event will run from 12:30 pm – 3:30 pm and is free to
all registered participants.
The City of Buffalo Youth Bureau helped
organize this event and provided the venue at the JFK Center. The program serves
boys and girls from 6 to 16 years-old. Participants will learn about
self-discipline, fun, fitness, and education in the afternoon
program.
“We are offering this summer program to introduce up to 100
Buffalo children to the fun and excitement of Sumo Wrestling,” said Charles
Bray, president of the SumoKids Foundation. “We promise an unusual and fun time
for everyone who participates.”
The SumoKids Sumo Wrestling Clinic is
based on the same principles of the SumoKids after school programs. SumoKids
after school activities are an educational sports festival. The program weaves
the traditional arts of Sumo Wrestling with elements of contemporary youth
culture into an exciting youth adventure.
“Our pilot after school program
this past year at Highgate Heights Elementary School was overwhelmingly
successful,” said Henry Chapman III, master coach of the SumoKids Foundation.
“This summer, we will introduce more children to Sumo, as we prepare for an
expanded after school program when school starts again in the fall.”
To
register for the August 16 SumoKids Sumo Wrestling Clinic contact Kathleen Isch,
director of the City of Buffalo Youth Bureau at (716) 851-5177.
The
SumoKids Foundation seeks corporate sponsors to help cover the costs of the
program. For more information, contact Paul McAfee at 716 568-0329.
