Security Moms: Looking to the Military for National Security Basics
Security moms are now seeking to understand national security basics. Turns out there is in fact but one war, the global terror war. And there is a single, official Bush plan, the National Strategy For Combating Terror, whose mission is to literally end global terror. Lieutenant Colonel Beech at the US Army War College published a Strategy Research Paper in July 2004 on global terror and the Bush national strategy. It provides a good background, from the military perspective, on the global terror war, its roots, and eliminating them. The official Bush national strategy declares four strategic missions that must be accomplished to win the global war on terror.
(PRWEB) October 5, 2004 -- National security basics for security moms begins
at the beginning. The ultimate goal of our US government is national security,
the brass ring of our nation, via our basic values of "life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness." All agree on this. To this end, national objectives are
formed by the President and his policy advisors, to be achieved by way of a
specific grand strategy (also called national strategy). If the military
instrument is used then the Department of Defense designs strategies and
operations to implement the grand strategy and accomplish the national mission.
All agree on this.
Turns out there is in fact but one war, the global
terror war. And there is a single, official US war plan, the National Strategy
For Combating Terror, whose mission is to literally end global terror.
Lieutenant Colonel Beech at the US Army War College published a Strategy
Research Paper in July 2004 on global terror and the Bush national strategy. It
provides a good background, from the military perspective, on the global terror
war, its roots, and eliminating them. The official Bush national strategy
declares four strategic missions that must be accomplished to win the global war
on terror:
Strategic Mission 1. Defeat terrorists and their
organizations.
Strategic Mission 2. Deny sponsorship, support, and sanctuary
to terrorists.
Strategic Mission 3. Diminish underlying conditions that
terrorists seek to exploit.
Strategic Mission 4. Defend US citizens and
interests at home and abroad.
In his Strategy Research Paper LTC Beech
provides military intelligence on the global terror war situation, and makes
strategic recommendations. It can be viewed at the US Army War College website:
http://www.carlisle.army.mil/usacsl/IPapers.asp#P11 Here are
some quotes:
1. "The State Department reported that al Qaeda has coupled
with at least twenty-eight other Islamic terrorist organizations centered in
more then a dozen different countries ... the CIA still identifies terrorism as
the single greatest threat to US Security ... Despite US military successes, al
Qaeda retains a demonstrated ability to recruit and conduct operations globally
... The goals and objectives articulated in the current US strategy (national
strategy) are all necessary elements to disrupt future acts of terror against
the US homeland. However, attacking the constituent parts of the al Qaeda
network will not by itself defeat it ... the US national strategy to defeat
terrorism recognized that finding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian issue is
a central component in combating terrorism. ... "
2. "Several of al
Qaeda’s interests coincide with those of a great multitude of Arabs and Muslims.
... The popularity of al Qaeda’s goals combined with the lack of alternatives
provides for its continued emergence. ... A strategy to diminish the ...
terrorist network will have to accomplish two objectives: first, the strategy
must identify, foster, and enable alternative ... networks ... and second, the
strategy needs to redress the ... sources ...To accomplish the second strategic
objective the US must focus all its elements of power ... to diminish the
sources ... Specifically, the US and its allies must work to find a solution to
the Israeli-Palestinian conflict."
According to LTC Beech's military
intelligence on this war, there are four roots which are generating
Anti-American terror. These roots are called by him the four sources of
emergence. They are:
Source 1. The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict -
President Bush, in his national strategy, states that no other issue "has so
colored the Muslim perception of us" and he says it must be "a major component"
of the national strategy.
Source 2. American military presence in
Iraq.
Source 3. American military presence in Saudi Arabia.
Source 4.
American approval of repressive regimes.
The ironic yet optimistic part
is this. America wants a just, two-state solution, accepted by both sides of the
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict. America doesn't want to be in Iraq. America
doesn't want a massive military presence in Saudi Arabia. And America is now the
world promoter of world liberty and democracy, and now working actively against
repressive regimes everywhere. All we need is a comprehensive, organized war
plan that centers on all this which we already want, and Bush and our military
know it. A massive and central focus needs to be placed on the four sources of
emergence, as Bush has already begun to do. And the honorable alternative of the
global liberty movement, that Bush has created, must not be dropped. This
modernized Bush war plan, I call "Operation Thunder," can achieve victory in the
global terror war.
Bush has already stated that resolving the
Israeli-Palestinian Conflict must be a "major component" of the national
strategy. For example, here is how he stated this national strategy objective in
his weekly radio address, April 20, 2002.
"This week Secretary of State
Colin Powell returned from the Middle East and reported on his intensive and
productive meetings. ... In this region, we are confronting hatred that is
centuries old, and disputes that have lingered for decades. Yet, America has a
vision for Peace, and by calling all the leaders of the Middle East to their
responsibilities, Secretary Powell made progress toward Peace. ... All parties
must realize that the only long-term solution is for two states -- Israel and
Palestine -- to live side by side in security and Peace. This will require hard
choices and real leadership by Israelis and Palestinians, and their Arab
neighbors. ... The time is now for all of us to make the choice for Peace.
America will continue to work toward this vision of Peace in the Middle East
...”
An unfit commander is someone who wrings his hands, runs the other
way, and does nothing for Peace on Earth, while our children live under a daily
terror alert. This is not what Jesus Christ would do, or have America do. The
Christian mission is to establish the way of Peace on Earth, which is the way of
the Prince of Peace. And this is what President Bush is doing. Through his
national strategy he is spreading world liberty, and thereby could well
accomplish the core ideal of Jesus Christ, Peace on Earth.
The Strategy
Research Paper by Lieutenant Colonel Beech shows clearly that resolving this
conflict must be a top priority. Given the new situation, this can be logically
extended to a requirement that the effort be massive and central. And this is
what President Bush has done, when he made resolving the Isreali-Palestinian
Conflict a “major component,” and he became the historical founder of the global
liberty movement.
President Bush's global liberty movement is making the
point clearly: all terrorism on innocent non-combatants is wrong, and the
international community includes all people who are against terrorism on ANY
innocent, civilian non-combatants. This is also condemned in the international
Law of War, which all the nations of the UN have agreed to. So this is the point
on which all agree: The killing of all innocent non-combatants must end. All
Muslim leaders, if they are truly being honorable and just as they claim, will
want to join the Bush global liberty movement, and proclaim their allegiance to
global liberty - every state has a right to its liberty. The vast majority of
states will be glad to get onboard, and all who don’t will lose their
credibility. The USA, Israel, and even Palestine have already indicated there
support for the principle of global liberty, as the Bush thunder rolls on. And
now Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya are poised to get onboard the global liberty
movement. If President Bush can get Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Lebanon,
and Egypt onboard his global liberty movement - every state has a right to its
liberty - he will bring a new era of state liberty to the greater middle east.
This is an outstanding national strategy, and it is historically
significant, given the fact that President Bush is the creator of the global
liberty movement. Historians will record him as the legendary father of this
world changing movement. And this vital component of the Bush national strategy,
of Bush’s "Operation Thunder," must not be dropped. John Kerry can only
acknowledge that President Bush is the undisputed founder of the critical global
liberty movement, and he will maintain it.
President Bush’s updated
national strategy for America, or Operation Thunder, can be outlined as
follows:
Operation Thunder: The Bush National Strategy For Victory in the
Global War On Terror
1. National Mission. Defeat Global Terror for the good
of Global Liberty.
2. Strategic Components.
Strategy Mission 1.
Defeat Terrorists and Their Organizations - Afghanistan, Iraq.
Strategy
Mission 2. Deny Sponsorship, Support, and Sanctuary to
Terrorists.
Strategy Mission 3. Diminish the Underlying Conditions (four
sources of emergence) that Terrorists Seek to Exploit.
(1) Operations to
“partner with other countries” to diminish the underlying conditions (four
sources of emergence) via the Bush global liberty movement.
(2) Operations
to “win the war of ideas” to diminish the four sources of emergence, by actively
resolving the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict so that there is a just, two-state
solution, accepted by both sides.
(3) Operations to “win the war of ideas” to
diminish the four sources of emergence, by actively resolving the military
presence problem in Saudi Arabia.
(4) Operations to “win the war of ideas”
to diminish the four sources of emergence, by actively criticizing repressive
regimes, as President Bush is already doing in his global liberty movement.
(5) Operations to “win the war of ideas” to diminish the four sources of
emergence, by actively promoting and supporting a “free, independent, and
democratic Iraq” as stated by President Bush.
Strategy Mission 4. Defend
US Citizens and Interests at Home and Abroad - Homeland Security
plans.
