October 26, 2004 -- Thousands of Muslims from across Pakistan will take part in
massive demonstrations this Friday, 29th October 2004, under the banner
“Liberate Iraq”. The demonstrations, in Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi and
Peshawar, are organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir [Pakistan and will call for an end to
America’s occupation of Iraq and the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah
[Caliphate.
The demonstrations will take place despite the continued
intimidation and harassment of Hizb ut-Tahrir members and supporters across
Pakistan. In recent weeks, authorities have used heavy handed tactics to abduct
party members without charge, torture them and file bogus charges against them.
This is the reality of Musharraf’s “enlightened moderation”, where peaceful
dissent and protest is met with an iron fist.
Dr Imran Waheed, the
Representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir in Britain, said, “Thousands of demonstrators
will raise their voices against the occupation of Iraq and the rulers of the
Muslim world who have blindly submitted to the West’s colonial designs and
butchery of Iraq’s Muslims. They will call for the re-establishment of the
Islamic Khilafah which will end subservience to foreign colonialist powers and
unify the vast armies and resources of the Muslim world into a single
state.”
“The Khilafah – the true and practical Islamic leadership - is
now on the horizon. Now is the time for the Muslims of Pakistan, particularly
the people of power and influence, to work alongside Hizb ut-Tahrir to remove
the weak Musharraf and establish the Islamic Khilafah.”
The
demonstrations will take place immediately after Friday prayers at the following
locations across Pakistan:
Lahore – Muslim Mosque [Lohari to Shah Alami
Chowk
Karachi – Lal Mosque [Nazimabad to Khilafat Chowk
Rawalpindi –
Ghulam Ullah Mosque [Raja Bazar to Fawwara Chowk
Peshawar – Mahabat Khan
Mosque to Chowk Yadgaar
Speakers at the demonstrations include Naveed
Butt, Mehboob Shah, Taimur Butt, Imran Fawad, Tahir Akbar, Irfan Ullah, Rizwan
Sheikh, Irfan Paracha, Dr. Abdul Wajid, Saad Jagranvi, Hakeem Ahsan Jagranvi,
Dr. Abdul Qayyum, Asim Abbas and Dr. Ismail Sheikh.

Pakistan, to resume the Islamic way of life by re-establishing the Islamic
Khilafah [Caliphate. The party adheres to Islamic law in all aspects of its work
and considers violence or armed struggle against the regime, as a method to
re-establish the Islamic State, to be forbidden by Islamic law. In the Western
world, the party seeks to explain the Islamic ideology to Muslims, to create a
