Launch of New Hockey TV Show
It addresses specific needs within the world of minor and youth hockey, offering information about many elements of the game, from each role’s different perspective.
Markham, ON (PRWEB) June 1, 2005 -- Kevin V. Huhn, creator of The Hockey
Source - The Ultimate Resource for Minor Hockey (THS), has announced the
Premiere of the television show, The Hockey Source, on August 2, 2005 at 6:30
p.m. (EDT) on the NHL Network. During its first season, this half-hour
magazine-style show will air on Tuesday nights for 13 weeks in Canada. It
addresses specific needs within the world of minor hockey, offering information
about many elements of the game, from each role’s different perspective.
Kevin, who is Executive Producer and Host, describes the show as:
“entertaining and educational for everyone involved in minor hockey—it provides
something of interest for people of all ages and roles.”
Viewers will get a look behind the scenes, and see action on the ice. There
will be lively interviews, hot topic discussions, and audience participation.
Information will include tips and fun facts. Each show has one theme, covered in
nine segments.
Highlights of the pilot, which focuses
on skating, include a tour of a manufacturing facility, the story of the
evolution of skates, and an interview with The Hockey Source’s Subject Matter
Expert on equipment. Thirteen Subject Matter Experts contribute to the shows’
content and messages, including: François Allaire on goaltending; Dr. Michael
Clarfield on injury/recovery; and Dr. Mike Houston on nutrition. These experts
lend their expertise to support the vision of THS: “To provide valuable
information about minor hockey to people, so they can make sound decisions and
have more fun.”
THS chose the NHL Network, which is owned by Bell
Globemedia and the NHL, because it is the only channel that broadcasts hockey 7
days a week, 24 hours a day.
Kevin has revealed that there are plans to
expand the show into the U.S.: “We are currently talking with a U.S. network.”
Andrew Hill, former President of CBS Productions, offered his congratulations on
The Hockey Source: “You’ve overcome incredible odds to achieve your
dream.”
The TV show is Kevin’s third major initiative in developing the
sport. He also has written a book, Hockey-ology, The Ultimate Guide to Fun &
Success for Minor Hockey, and created a website, www.thehockeysource.tv,
which have established him as the minor hockey expert. After 30 years, occupying
various roles, he wanted to give something back and help improve minor hockey
for all. In addition to being an educator, he has contributed to the game by
developing useful products and fundraising programs for teams and leagues.
The Hockey Source is a production of Fire ’n Idea
Inc., a privately-owned Canadian corporation.
The NHL
Network is a digital network in Canada and is partially owned by Bell Globemedia
and the NHL.
