Yuqi Wang's Classical Painting Demo at Toronto Fine Art School Coincides with Chinese Grand Masters Art Exhibit
While the Chinese Grand Masters Art Exhibition is at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, New York artist Yuqi Wang will demonstrate his eastern- and western-inspired classical oil painting technique at Toronto's Academy of Realist Art on the afternoons of June 4 and 5, 2005.
PRWEB) June 3, 2005 -- While The Chinese Grand Masters Art Exhibition at the
Metro Toronto Convention Centre displays priceless masterpieces from China and
the Dai family collection, eastern-western-fusion realist painter Yuqi Wang (http://www.yuqiwangart.net)
will demonstrate classical, representational painting technique at Academy of
Realist Art this Saturday and Sunday afternoon, June 4 and 5, between noon and
4:00 PM each day.
Yuqi Wang is included in the Art Renewal Center
selection of Living Masters (http://www.artrenewal.org/asp/database/art.asp?aid=625) and
has won Grand Prizes from the Portrait Society of America, the American Society
of Portrait Artists, and MOMA in NY. His work is on display in China National
Gallery, the private collection of the Royal Family of Japan, and private
collections in the US.
"The world I reveal," says Mr. Wang of his art,
"is a blend of both the ‘Occident’ and the ‘Orient’; my passion for both Classic
European portraiture and the Pre-Raphaelite movement is gently kissed by my
Chinese heritage."
Wang's painting demonstrations are intended primarily
for currently enrolled students at Academy of Realist Art (http://www.academyofrealistart.com), Toronto's only
ARC-accredited academic fine art school. Space for additional visitors is very
limited, so please call in advance.
RSVP and tickets ($75.00) are
required; please phone ARA Director Colleen Johnston at
416-766-1280.
Academy of Realist Art (ARA) is a private fine art school
in the classical tradition, modelled on the great 19th-century Academies.
Located in Toronto, Canada (near Buffalo, NY), ARA offers a proven curriculum of
step-by-step, self-paced fine art study in a group environment. Students can
learn to draw and paint at ARA full- or part-time and during periodic workshops.
After completing the rigorous four-level (approximately four-year) curriculum --
which includes the famous Bargue/Gerome Design Course and the painstakingly
reconstructed curriculum stemming from Renaissance roots -- students receive a
diploma transferable toward a degree at accredited colleges and universities via
portfolio evaluation and credit banking. Academy of Realist Art is one of the
few fine art schools to be accredited and recommended by the Art Renewal Center
for excellence in drawing and painting instruction in the classical realist
style.
Senior artist-instructors Fernando Freitas and Juan Carlos
Martinez (http://www.academyofrealistart.com/faculty.asp) are both
prize-winning contemporary realists. Freitas' exceptional draftsmanship and
teaching style are evident in the recently released DVD, Drawing From the
Figure. Martinez' artwork and method are currently featured in _International
Artist_, in a six-part article, "The Academy Way."
Living Masters and
other art experts enrich the ARA curriculum with special demonstrations and
lectures every semester.
