Background:
Boys & Girls
Harbor is a venerable New York City Institution. Its mission of “Educating
Children to Be Their Best” is a real life success story. From its beginnings,
Boys & Girls Harbor has been a beacon of light for underprivileged children
and their families. It is an example of all that can go right with a
humanitarian effort. The Harbor is a model of hope and support for young people
everywhere.
Founded by Anthony Drexel Duke in 1937 as a summer camp for
low-income urban boys, the Harbor’s mission is to empower children and their
families to become full, productive participants in society through education,
cultural enrichment, and social services. The Harbor offers 24 programs that
provide a nurturing environment for children to learn and grow. Boy & Girls
