Giving Your Kids Wings For Life
Kids need roots to prepare for life. Many parenting books have been written from this perspective. Now, authors Dr. Bob Reccord and his wife Cheryl Reccord have written a book that shows how parents can move to the next level: giving their children the blessing of wings to launch a successful, faith-filled adult life. Parents learn how to create a strategic plan for raising children who are on mission for God, the eight biblical principles for helping their children discover God’s calling in their lives and ideas for adding ceremony and significance to their child’s journey.
Nashville, TN (PRWEB) May 5, 2005 -- Kids need roots to prepare for life.
Many parenting books have been written from this perspective. Now, authors Dr.
Bob Reccord and his wife Cheryl Reccord have written a book that shows how
parents can move to the next level: giving their children the blessing of wings
to launch a successful, faith-filled adult life. Parents learn how to create a
strategic plan for raising children who are on mission for God, the eight
biblical principles for helping their children discover God’s calling in their
lives and ideas for adding ceremony and significance to their child’s journey.
Launching Your Kids for Life (W Publishing, $14.99, ISBN 0-8499-4549-6, 240
pages, March 2005) does not burden already-busy parents with new
responsibilities but instead shows them how to weave a legacy of promise into
the family life they are already living.
The Reccords
spoke to parents across North America and found a common desire above all else –
to see their children grow up and live successful adult lives, able to help
change their world and to have happy home lives of their own. Parenting with
these kinds of results does not happen by accident. In order to equip parents to
meet their goals, Launching Your Kids for Life utilizes an entertaining and
engaging space age analogy. The Reccords, as well as contributors Dr. Tommy
Holloway, past director of the NASA Space Program, and three-time shuttle
astronaut David Leestma, explain that preparing kids to leave the nest and fly
into adulthood is much like NASA’s preparation to launch a spaceship into orbit.
A successful mission depends on planning, motivation and cooperation.
Sound daunting? It’s not, say the Records. Employing a team approach and
a mentoring tone, they share the personal stories of more than a dozen couples
who have successfully raised their children. They add their own insights to
round out a book that abounds with readily adaptable parenting strategies
designed to prepare kids for the future. Accessible and practical, the authors
offer simple suggestions for rich results, including creative ideas for
celebrating milestones in your child’s development. They believe that families
need to reintroduce ceremony into daily living, not only to mark the journey but
also to commemorate the distance traveled, provide direction and guide the
course. And they will provide parents with many memorable and unforgettable ways
to celebrate those milestones in their kid’s lives.
It’s a tried and
proven approach anchored in godly values. The stories are easy to read and
illustrate good ideas easy to retool and execute in a parent’s own life. The
Reccords discuss how a parenting style can mesh or clash with a child’s
personality and include free access to an online resource for developing a
child’s personality profile. They promise, “your kids will discover their life’s
mission…your family will become their training ground…you and your spouse will
become closer…and together your family will have a blast living the on mission
lifestyle.”
“Launching Your Kids for Life” gives parents the tools to
help their children embark on a successful journey into adulthood. Whether the
day is far away or very near, children will one day leave home to go out on
their own. It’s never too early or too late to turn your home into Mission
Control. The Reccords invite you to join them on the launching pad … where the
sky truly can be the limit!
