Mom Sets Out to Solve Cleaning Problem, Starts a Carriage Trade
Stay-at-home mom, Karen Nadler-Sachs, like so many moms before her, was simply doing her job, when she realized she had a useful solution to an age-old problem.
(PRWEB) May 13, 2005 -- Stay-at-home mom set out to solve problem of feeding
messes and inadvertently starts a business.
Self-proclaimed “older mom”
Karen Nadler-Sachs, like so many moms before her, was performing a simple
childcare task, when she had a revelation. While feeding her toddler in the wee
hours of the morning, she saw in slow-motion the jelly slip off her daughter’s
fork and onto her lovely chairs. Despite the effort of having strategically
placed a towel on the chair, the towel had, for the nth time, shifted. A mess
had occurred. More work for mom.
And “Save the Chairs!” has been her
rallying cry every since.
In those wee hours of the morning, as
Nadler-Sachs pondered such questions as “When will the incessant cleaning end?”
and “Why hasn’t anyone solved this problem yet?” she decided right then and
there to create a child-friendly chair cover herself.
Unlike conventional
bag-like slipcovers, Nadler-Sachs decided that her Situpon™ Chair Cover had to
look tailor-made, be adjustable to fit almost any size chair, be absorbent,
impermeable, soft to the touch, and best of all -- machine washable. After 6
months and numerous designs and prototypes, she had a functional model, complete
with “bib pocket” in the back.
Like so many moms before her, Nadler-Sachs
realized she had invented something that could help other moms and caretakers,
too. Having filed her patent application, she plans to license the original
vinyl-lined terry-cloth version to a juvenile product manufacturer. But even
better, she also has plans for a disposable version for children’s parties. Her
rallying cry, “Save the Chairs!™” has become the name of her
business.
