Laserpod Available to U.S. Buyers at Planetlava.com
Novelty lamp offers users a light show in the convenience of home
Beaver Falls, PA (PRWEB) May 19, 2005 -- The Laserpod is fast becoming known
as the “lava lamp of the 21st century.”
The novelty lamp, designed in
Great Britain by light artist Chris Levine, has been available in the United
Kingdom for the past year, and has quickly gained a following.
It is now
available in the U.S., courtesy of Planetlava.com, an online marketer of lava
lamps and inflatable furniture.
According to Ted Novak, promotional
director for Planetlava.com, the Laserpod is reminiscent of lava lamps — made
popular during the hippy generation of the 1960s — with an updated twist for the
21st century. Laserpod uses electronic lasers and blue and purple LEDs [light
emitting diodes, combined with a rotating Swarovski crystal, to transmit a
brilliant light show.
“It’s really something to look at,” Novak said.
“The lasers point up into the crystal and all the facets make random patterns on
the ceiling and walls.”
Novak added that users interact with Laserpod by
placing such items as glass, crystal or clear plastics on top. “It produces an
almost surreal lighting effect that continually evolves in time,” he
said.
The Laserpod comes in a cylindrical-shaped aluminum casing. The kit
includes a set Swarovski crystal, a ridged glass refractor lens, two different
electroplated domed diffusers (short and tall), a DC adapter, instructions and a
“Book of Light” leaflet.
For the best experience, the Laserpod should be
activated in complete darkness. This allows users to view the “subtler, more
meditative and organic beams,” according to Planetlava.com.
With the
diffusers on top of the alloy cylinder, the effects are contained and Laserpod
becomes a soothing ambient lamp.
Laserpod is also portable and can
function for up to eight hours on three alkaline AA batteries.
