Women no longer have to choose between being fashionable and financially prudent. The Budget Fashionsita unveils her five tips for Budget Shopping.
New York, NY (PRWEB) May 3, 2005 -- Women no longer have to choose between
being fashionable and financially prudent. Kathryn Finney, stylist to the cheap
and the fashionista behind one of the original shopping blogs The Budget
Fashionista unveiled her five tips for budget shopping today at the Professional
Businesswomen of California Conference, at the Moscone Convention Center, in San
Francisco, CA. A reckless spendthrift-turned-designer discount diva, Finney
dished her tips and advice on budget shopping to a great closet and a sound bank
account.
"You can be corporate chic and still have enough to fund your
401k", states Finney to the over 500 conference attendees. "As a young
professional, I thought that you had to spent tons of money to look like a
success- until I had massive credit card bills. As the Budget Fashionista, I've
learned several key ways to look great, while maintaining my savings account. By
using my five tips, fashionistas worldwide can also look great without
refinancing their homes."
Tip #1- Create a Shopping Savings
Account
Many banks have special accounts, sometimes with slightly higher
interest rates than a traditional account, that allow shoppers to save towards
big purchases. If your bank doesn't have shopping saving accounts, just open a
regular savings or checking account dedicated solely to your shopping
purchases.
Tip #2- Develop a Signature Piece
Choose a piece that
reflects your personality, your lifestyle, and that you can maintain on your
budget. Make these pieces so fabulous that is won't matter if the rest of your
outfit came from the Goodwill.
Tip #3 - Dress High - Low
Dressing high
and low allows you to mix higher end pieces like your signature item with lower
cost items from stores like Target.
Tip# 4- Find a Celebrity Style
Twin
Celebrities pay big money for stylists, make-up artists, designers,
psychics, etc who help them to look great and stay current. Find a celebrity
whose style you admire and whose body type is similar to yours and use them as a
guide. Be realistic with yourself- if you wear a size 22, Halle Berry is not
your style twin.
Tip #5 Self Confidence is the New Black
If you feel
good about yourself and what you are wearing you could can make corporate blue
look like something right off the runway of New York's Fashion
week.
