Are American Moms in Need of a Makeover?
The book 'Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age of Anxiety' says American mothers are 'desperate housewives' running flat out on a treadmill of misery-inducing over-parenting. Beverly Hills Makeover Magic For Moms Diva disagrees - mothers can have it all says Eve Michaels.
(PRWEB) May 25, 2005 -- According to Perfect Madness: Motherhood in the Age
of Anxiety ‘desperate housewives’ says it all - American mothers are running
flat out on a treadmill of misery-inducing over-parenting. They’ve lost the
ability to enjoy work and family and they’ve lost that spark of wow in their
lives. In trying to have it all, they lose it all. Moms’ lives are in desperate
need of some makeover magic.
Author of Perfect Madness, Judith Warner,
suggests that a “widespread, choking cocktail of guilt and anxiety, resentment
and regret” is “poisoning motherhood” for American women today. Her book is
getting a lot of media attention, but does the message ring true for American
Moms?
Not according to the Motherhood Project study from the Institute
for American Values. Most American women like being mothers, says this study.
One in five Moms does feel stressed by parenting issues, but no mention of guilt
and anxiety, resentment or regret.
“The Motherhood Project findings are
much closer to reality,” agrees Eve Michaels, originator of the Makeover Magic
for Moms program who works with women of all ages. “Moms do feel they have lost
their sense of wow many moms are pressures in their daily lives. But they most
certainly can have it all and they deserve to have it all. However, in order to
enjoy it all and be free of the guilt and anxiety, they have to learn to balance
their lives.”

“What women want is to get
their sense of self back and put a little wow and pizazz into their life,” says
Michaels. “They look in the mirror they don’t know who they are
anymore.”
“I was juggling a booming restaurant business, real estate
investments, being a wife, and a mother of two children age 10 and 12,” says
Dora Khamis of Orange County, Calif. “I desperately wanted to get my sense of
wow back, but didn’t even know how to begin. Eve’s makeover magic showed me how
to find my inner balance. Now I turn heads when I walk into a room, my
self-confidence is soaring. My family really appreciates me and we have great
times together.”
Ginny Haylett of Los Angeles was in the throes of
menopause, in a new marriage, unemployed and suffering from “empty nest”
syndrome. “Eve helped me reverse my negative thinking about aging and gave me
the mindset to actually grow better and younger,” says Haylett. “I look good and
I finally feel good. My husband and daughter are so happy to have the real Ginny
back.”
Parenting issues that cause pressures aren’t going to go away.
Trying to be perfect could well lead to a miserable existence. But with a little
online makeover magic moms can find balance in their work and life and get their
sense of wow back.
