Oceanfront Yankee Clipper Inn in Rockport Massachusetts Has Been Restored To A Luxury Retreat
The Yankee Clipper Inn, under new ownership, has undergone a transformation from country Inn to elegant, old world oceanfront mansion. The new owners have transformed the property with the addition of high end amenities and European antiques. Almost every area of the Inn has been transformed over the last four years. Guests of the Inn are truly enjoying and commenting on all of the changes.
(PRWEB) June 19, 2005 -- Long a favorite destination among New Englanders,
Rockport and Cape Ann’s other enchanting towns have never quite attained the
mythical following of the other Cape to the South. However, they remain some of
New England’s most shimmering jewels. Voted best oceanviews by Arringtons Bed
and Breakfast Journal and best nearby escape by Boston Magazine, The Yankee
Clipper Inn of Rockport has long been regarded as the finest jewel of Cape Ann.
Celebrities from around the world have stayed at The Yankee Clipper including
John and Jackie Kennedy, Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, John Lennon and Yoko
Ono, Bette Davis, Diane Lane, Whoppi Goldberg and numerous
others.
Perched on a bluff, overlooking the open ocean and the downtown
of Rockport Massachusetts, The Yankee Clipper Inn offers one of the most
beautiful and romantic settings in New England. The grounds are lush with
perennial and annual flower gardens and rocky paths and steps wind up to an
oceanfront gazebo and bluff that provides the perfect place for pictures,
reading, or sitting and watching and listening to the sights and sounds of the
shoreline. Lobster boats pass slowly, checking their traps. Dozens of different
types of seabirds swim, dive, fish and gather on the rocks below. Occasionally a
seal reclines on the rocks. Sunrise is a rainbow sherbet display of orange, pink
and blue. Sunset offers a reflective, softer display.
Overlooking this
breathtaking view, The Yankee Clipper Inn sits majestically, perfectly sited to
take advantage of 180 degrees of view. The Inn is conveniently located close to
the inviting shops of Rockport but it is set in a quiet, residential area. The
Yankee Clipper Inn has undergone a major transformation over the last four
years. Under the new ownership of Randy and Cathy Marks, major renovations and
redecorating has been accomplished in most areas of the Inn.
The Inn now
consists of two buildings; The 1929 Art Deco Mansion Main Inn, and The
Quarterdeck Building, a more contemporary style Cape offering panoramic ocean
views. The Main Inn has been updated with new wiring, high speed internet
access, new wall paper in several rooms, Egyptian Cotton sheets and towels, high
end amenities, and beautiful quilts and duvets. But old world charm has been
retained and supplemented with the addition of magnificent European Antiques to
almost every room in The Main Inn and to several rooms in the Quarterdeck. The
Main Inn offers three suites, with European Antiques in the bedrooms and wicker
furnishings on the sun porches that overlook the ocean. The three superior
oceanfront rooms on the third floor offer dramatic views, DVD players, decks,
and most have jet tubs. A small non view room and partial view room offer more
modest accommodations in the Main Inn.
The Quarterdeck has some of the
most dramatic ocean views found anywhere. The feel of this building is more
contemporary, with large picture windows, recently refurbished tile and marble
baths, and jet tubs in most rooms. All of the superior rooms have DVD players
and access to the DVD library.
The living room of the Main Inn is a work
of art, with elaborately carved mahogany stained wood molding and wainscoting,
hand painted art deco murals on the walls, an inviting gas fireplace sitting
area and an antique gold and blue parlor set. The Blue Sapphire Dining Room,
formerly the Veranda, has been redecorated with cream walls, shades and linens,
and gorgeous Shonbeck blue crystal chandeliers and sconces complementing the
view of the gardens, ocean, and downtown of Rockport. The room provides an
elegant backdrop for English style afternoon tea, which is served on pewter and
silver tea services every weekend, and dinner, which is served different days,
depending upon the season. A lavish breakfast buffet is included with your stay.
The special occasion room is a choice location for weddings, functions
and business meetings. With a beautiful granite floor, antique servers,
expansive views of the ocean and gardens, and direct access to the bluestone
patio through 4 sets of sliding doors, this room is perfect for any special
occasion or retreat. The oceanfront gazebo, described earlier, is available to
rent for the ultimate private romantic dinner, (it is the perfect place to
propose), or for small elopement weddings.
