Baystock 2005 to Feature Red Hot Rockin’ Bands
The Baystock 2005 will feature three red-hot, rockin' bands--all hard-working veterans of the music business, all critically acclaimed, all world class.
(PRWEB) June 16, 2005 -- Portland Maine: Two-time Grammy Award winning
blues/R&B vocalist Delbert McClinton, singer/songwriter/guitarist James
McMurtry and Maine’s own multiple Grammy Award nominee Cindy Bullens will play
at the Maine State Pier in Portland Maine from 6 to 10 p.m. on August 13th. All
of the money raised will go to support the Jessie BC Fund, the primary
fundraising charity for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. Baystock 2005 is
part of the Budweiser True Music series, is presented by WCLZ and is supported
through the generous support of local companies such as Wright Express and
ProSearch. Tickets are $30.00 in advance and can be ordered online through
Porttix. http://www.porttix.com.
James McMurtry (www.jamesmcmurtry.com) A
compelling singer/songwriter who's also proven himself a master guitarist, James
McMurtry is a rare musical triple-threat. Both peers and press have sited him as
being among the finest songsmiths of his generation. McMurtry's song/stories are
populated by world-weary, colorful characters that often long for times
different, if no better, than what they're now enduring. Alongside his rhythm
section of nearly a decade, the Heartless Bastards (Ronnie Johnson, bass and
backing vocals; Daren Hess, drums), McMurtry makes some of the tightest music
found onstage today. Perhaps due to his powerful reputation as a lyricist,
McMurtry's guitar virtuosity is sometimes overlooked. Though not one to stoop to
flash just for the sake of effect, he can rip forth with a flurry of fat-toned
notes when the material demands it. In the next breath, he'll frame a tender
composition with poignant lead lines.
When Delbert McClinton (www.delbert.com) announces with
his latest album that he has Room To Breathe, he sure ain't kidding. After more
than four decades of making music, McClinton is breathing freely with the
confidence and energy of an artist who knows that he has mastered his game.
Still basking in the glow of a new Grammy® Award, he has followed up what The
Wall Street Journal declared his "best recording ever" -- 2001's Nothing
Personal -- with a set that displays even greater muscle, smarts, charm and
soul.
Over the last few years, Cindy Bullens (www.cindybullens.com) has
toured in Europe and Australia. In the summer of 2004, she gathered with an
all-star band at Ray Kennedy's Room & Board Studio in Hermitage, Tennessee,
to record her sixth solo album, Dream #29. Featuring George Marinelli (Bonnie
Raitt) on guitar, Dennis Burnside on keys, Ginger Cote (The Coming Grass) on
drums, and Garry W. Tallent (E-Street Band) on bass, Dream #29 is an absorbing
collection of rock & roll, balancing poignant and introspective songs with a
down-and-dirty rock & roll attitude.
Baystock (www.baystockmusicfest.org ) is a non-profit organization
dedicated to raising money for local charities through a mutual interest of
professionals interested in giving something back to their community. Baystock
2005 is the third annual concert series produced by the Baystock team. Last
year’s concert featured Lisa Loeb and raised over $20,000 for local charities.
The Jessie BC Fund, www.jessiefoundation.org:
The Jessie Bullens-Crewe
Foundation was founded in 1996 to honor the incredible spirit of this girl who
died too soon - she was only eleven years old. Jessie died of cancer and her
parents, Cindy Bullens and Dan Crewe, started the foundation with the hope of
fulfilling their daughter's deep desire to help people in need and to make the
world a better place for everyone.
