Brett Jungblut, 2004 WSOP Omaha High/Low World Champion - In the Chips
2004 WSOP Omaha High/Low World Champion returns to the 2005 WSOP to defend title.
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) June 2, 2005 -- There's no doubt Brett Jungblut was in
the chips when he won the Omaha Hi-Lo Championship at the WSOP 2004.
But
this 26-year-old internet poker-playing whiz is still in the chips - this time
with a phenomenal number of internet poker wins, and his enormous collection of
vintage poker chips.
In the 12 months since he won his
first gold WSOP bracelet, Jungblut has not only continued to dominate on
internet poker sites, he has also accumulated more than 50,000 vintage clay
poker chips. These chips, manufactured from the 1890s to WWII, range in value
from $5 to $50 each. A significant part of his collection is devoted to rare
chips issued by illegal clubs . But the vintage chip collection also contains
art deco graphics, good luck symbols, animals, initials, and card suits. The
chips are collected worldwide by both poker and antique dealers, and are sold by
Jungblut on the internet.
Widely known as "Gank" on
the internet poker sites, Jungblut has also racked up a stellar number of poker
wins. Currently, he is ranked #2 for the year on Poker
Stars.
This year, at WSOP 2005,Jungblut will not only
defend his Omaha Hi-Low Championship, he will play in another 40 tournament
games.
As "Gank", Jungblut is well-known on the poker-playing circuit,
not only for his aggressive game style, but also because he is known to play up
to 10 games simultaneously. No easy feat, but Jungblut has mastered this
multi-gaming strategy. He has made more than 50 final tables on Pokerstars,
alone, this year.
Following the WSOP 2004, Jungblut,
who studied business in college, turned his love of poker into several business
ventures.
Recently, he and his partners launched an
internet Poker magazine, PokerTrails.com. PokerTrails offers a comprehensive
guide to tournaments, and features online, "real-life" articles from amateur and
pro poker players.
A former member of the young
poker-playing group known as "The Crew," Jungblut went off on his own shortly
after the WSOP 2004.
While he plans to concentrate
solely on his game during WSOP 2005, come July, he will get back to his other
business ventures. He will also co-host a reality TV show, now in development,
as well as film several poker DVDs.
