A Powerful Story will Not be Ignored
Annual Chistell contest encourages writers to connect to the source that gives all living beings creative expression.
(PRWEB) June 3, 2005 -- Today Chistell Publishing announces the winners in
its annual literary competition. Poems and short stories penned by writers from
around the globe were submitted to the contest. Aim of the competition is to
encourage literacy, education and strong story telling skills. “To enjoy and
benefit from stories like Star Wars, The Joy Luck Club and Spiral, it is
necessary to encourage new writers to delve deep within and connect to the
source that gives all living beings creative expression. That is what we do each
year with our annual Chistell Writing Contest,” states Denise Turney, the
contest sponsor.
First Place winner in this year’s short story category
is Brenda Owen of Amarillo, Texas; Brenda’s winning short story is titled “A
Tale To Tell”. Second Place short story winner is Autumn Conley of Springfield,
Ohio; Autumn’s winning short story is titled “The Chase”.
Winner in the
poetry category is Candy Killion of Davie, Florida; Candy’s winning poem is
titled “Urban Renewal, Newark”. Second Place poetry winner is Thomas Kemp of
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Thomas’ winning poem is untitled.
The Annual
Chistell Writing Contest is open to the public. There is no reading fee. “We
pick up costs involved in administering the contest which is open to a world of
readers – a rainbow of writers,” states Turney. “The power of the written word
combined with the durability of a story, makes it clear how wise it is to
encourage literacy and strong writing skills. Good writing requires deep inner
work, a work that often brings about healing. We’re excited to be a part of this
global healing effort.” Readers and writers interested in learning more about
