Local Author Launches Her Book, A Tribute to BYU's 1984 National Championship Team

Candace E. Salima announces publication of her latest book, “13-0, Reflections of Champions,” a tribute to the remarkable accomplishment by Coach LaVell Edwards and his 1984 BYU Cougar football team.

Provo, Utah (PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- Candace Salima announces publication of her latest book, “13-0, Reflections of Champions,” a tribute to the remarkable accomplishment by Coach LaVell Edwards and his 1984 football team.

While many articles and feature stories document the Cougar's amazing climb during their undefeated season to their “controversial” championship, no one has captured the experiences and stories of these so-called over-achieving, “Bo-Diddley Tech” athletes and coaches the way Salima has in her new offering.

Fifteen questions form the nucleus of her book and Salima has effectively formed each inquiry into individual chapters. From humorous experiences to spiritual influences, each of the 30 players and coaches interviewed share personal accounts and update us on their lives today. In addition, the players and coaches give counsel to young athletes everywhere.

BYU photographer, Mark Philbrik, provided game pictures and individual player photos from that memorable season. Also included are current family portraits of the team members.

A $1 donation will be made to the BYU Cougar Club with each book sold.

Candace E. Salima's first book, “Out of the Shadows . . .Into the Light”, is currently a steady seller on the LDS romance-suspense market. Her first foray into sports writing came as a result of her husband, Alvin, pitching the idea (of a tribute to the 1984 team) to her publisher and having no clue on how to proceed with writing the book. She is currently finishing her third book, “Dreams Die Hard”, the sequel to her popular first publication.
