'Justice Sunday II' judicial activism rally, movie premiere on the life of the man who became Pope John Paul II among faith-based specials airing on Sky Angel, continuing the family-friendly television service's monthly tradition of delivering to homes, churches and more nationwide entertaining, inspiring and informative television specials focused on matters of faith and issues of importance to the Christian family.
Naples, FL (PRWEB) August 11, 2005 -- A special live event on Aug. 14
focusing on judicial activism and Supreme Court nominee Judge John Roberts and
the much-anticipated U.S. television premiere of the movie "A Man Who Became
Pope" on Aug. 15 are among the faith-based specials airing this month on Sky
Angel direct-to-home satellite TV.
These upcoming events on America's
family-friendly television service continue Sky Angel's monthly tradition of
delivering directly into homes, churches and more across the nation a wide
variety of entertaining, inspiring and informative television specials focused
on matters of faith and issues of importance to the Christian
family.
Airing live this Sunday, Aug. 14, 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. ET, and
re-airing 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. ET for Central, Mountain and Pacific viewers'
convenience, "Justice Sunday II: God Save the United States and this Honorable
Court" will be carried on Sky Angel's special events channel, Angel Two/Channel
9702. This follow-up event to the original "Justice Sunday: Stopping the
Filibuster Against People of Faith" that aired on Sky Angel earlier this year is
being presented by the pro-family public policy group, Family Research Council
based in Washington, D.C. The live event from Two Rivers Baptist Church in
Nashville, Tenn. will center on the changes on the Supreme Court and how to stop
judicial activism. Featured speakers will include Sen. Zell Miller, Focus on the
Family's Dr. James Dobson, Rep. Tom DeLay, Catholic League's Bill Donohue,
National Association of Evangelicals' Ted Haggard, among others. Music will be
performed by Rebecca St. James and Jett Williams.
"I am pleased that Sky
Angel has agreed to provide churches across the country access to the 'Justice
Sunday II' simulcast which will educate pro-family Americans on what they can do
to defend family, faith and freedom," said Family Research Council President
Tony Perkins.
"Over the years, we have seen parents grow increasingly
concerned with the violence and indecency that children are exposed to through
television," he added. "While there are a number of ways that we can address
this problem, Sky Angel provides an immediate solution to many of these
concerns. I applaud Sky Angel for filling a vital need for family television
programming. Sky Angel is an example of a company that is strengthening the
family unit rather than undermining it."
In addition, Hallmark Channel,
one of the newest channels to be added to the 36-channel Sky Angel family of
networks, will be premiering on Monday, Aug. 15, 8 p.m. ET, the Hallmark Channel
original movie event, "A Man Who Became Pope." This four-hour biopic chronicles
the journey of young Karol Wojtyla from his Polish homeland to becoming Pope
John Paul II. Hallmark Channel airs on Sky Angel Channel 9713 (moving to channel
