From Juvenile Delinquency, to Child Ministry

September 7, 2005 marks the release of the second book in the Lisa May series, “Does It Pay to Obey?” Authored by Karen Maloy of Syracuse, and illustrated by Jan Prouty of Mutual Blessings. Both active members of Faith By Love Family Worship Church, is written from the view of a five-year old African American child growing up in the inner city, and utilizes the word of God to teach the principle of obedience in a way that is fun, rewarding as well as entertaining.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (PRWEB) August 13, 2005 -- Mutual Blessings is responsible for providing a training base for introducing our children to moral principles, and also to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Mutual Blessings began in September 2003 with the partnership of Karen and Jan, coinciding with the release of their first book “Are You Afraid of the Dark, Too?” which is currently selling at Sacred Melody Christian Bookstore here in Syracuse, New York. Look for the following titles “Hey, Do You Know My Friend?” and “Ouch, Don’t You Know That Hurts?” in the near future.

Karen once a juvenile delinquent herself, joined Faith By Love Family Worship Church, in 1999; and through the principles that she has learned from Apostle Leroy, Sr. Pastor and his wife Pastor Hestina Legette, she is working to fulfill the mission of Mutual Blessings to reach children of all ages. Karen has said many times that “Our goal is to teach young children fundamental principles which are building blocks to build upon, that would allow our children to become a positive influence in their homes and classrooms; and to grow up into law-abiding and productive citizens in their communities.”

The Lisa May character is modeled after one of her children, and has been beneficial in teaching the same principles to her now six-year old child as well.

The Gingerbread House Preschool and Child Care Center, located at 2500 Grant Blvd. Syracuse, NY (a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saint Francis) is hosting this event, and 5% of all proceeds will be donated to the Center. So come on out, bring your children and/or grandchildren to personally meet an author and an illustrator, and support two agencies that are genuinely interested in what is best for your children. Both Karen Maloy and Jan Prouty will be available to sign copies of each book purchased.
