Choices Leadership Academy Founder to be Featured on “Our Times with Terese Arena”, Airing on Dallas-area Susquehanna Radio Stations December 4-5, 2004
Choices Leadership Academy Founder, Karen Harkey,and Terese Arena discuss how this new school will help address the need for diversity in college preparatory schools and neighborhood-based high school Advanced Placement programs.
Carrollton, TX (PRWEB) December 1, 2004 -- Karen Harkey, Founder and Head of
School for Choices Leadership Academy, will be the featured guest on “Our Times
with Terese Arena”, Susquehanna Radio’s weekly Public Affairs program which is
broadcast on its Dallas-area stations. The show will air at 5:00AM on both KTCK
(“The Ticket”) 1310AM/104.1FM and KDBN (“The Bone”) 93.3FM. “Our Times” will
also air Sunday, December 5th at 5:00AM on KLIF TalkRadio 570AM, and at 7:00AM
on (“The Wolf”) 99.5FM. Each station also has live online audio.
Choices
Leadership Academy will hold an Open House on Sunday, December 5th from 3:00
P.M. until 5:00 PM. The school is located at 18106 Marsh Lane, on the northeast
corner of Marsh Lane and Frankford Road, in Dallas.
This unique school
will be only one of six in the United States, and the only one of its kind in
Texas. The maximum roster of 100 students per year in grades five through eight
will yield a 12:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Choices Leadership Academy will
answer the need for a multicultural college preparatory school that matriculates
talented and gifted students from diverse cultures for admission to local, state
and national independent college preparatory, as well as neighborhood-based high
school Advanced Placement programs –while adhering to core values of
scholarship, character, service, and leadership.
Through Choices
Leadership, Inc., Karen Harkey’s after-school tutoring, leadership programs, and
educational summer camps have enriched the lives of hundreds of participants
since 1998. She is sought after for her expertise in developing programs for
children, specifically in the areas of creative communication, theater arts,
leadership and personal development skills. Ms. Harkey holds degrees in Speech
Communication, English and Theater Arts from The University of North Texas. She
has special training in gifted education from The University of Arkansas, and
The University of Connecticut. Karen is a member of the National Association for
Gifted Education and The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture. Karen is
married and the mother of two sons, as well as an active member of Hamilton Park
United Methodist Church.
