Interactive "Arthur" Goes to China
The world-popular animated Marc Brown character "Arthur" offers fun early learning for Chinese Children through interactive CD-ROM games
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 3, 2004 -- The children of China are
getting a new playmate and teacher to help them with early education.
An
interactive CD-ROM series featuring the internationally popular, animated
character ARTHUR has been licensed for release in the People’s Republic of
China.
Based on the ARTHUR book series created by Marc Brown, which has
sold over 52,000,000 books worldwide, and the Emmy award winning animated ARTHUR
television series; the interactive CD-ROM program will help Chinese children
improve their English language proficiency , while building skills in critical
thinking, problem solving, memory, creativity, music, science, geography and
moral values like friendship and fair play.
Each interactive CD-ROM in
the series has fun-filled adventures with games, surprises, and challenges
designed to delight and inspire young minds as they progress through five skill
levels of multiple activities.
The Chinese Government has placed a high
priority on Chinese children learning the English language, mandating that it be
taught from toddler through high school.
The ARTHUR “Reading Games” CD,
for ages 5-7 will contribute to this effort by boosting skills in word
recognition, rhyming, reading comprehension, spelling, sentence structure,
vocabulary, story building, and word matching while children play with ARTHUR
and his animated pals.
The Chinese partners that are launching the
interactive titles and workbooks with licensor American Television in China
(ATC) have demonstrated successful localization of multimedia materials by
publishing and distributing The Discovery Channel SCHOOL program of 52 VCD’s, 34
books and 34 interactive CD-ROM, all of which have been endorsed by China’s
Ministry of Education . “We have a unique ability to modify our multimedia to
align with the new Chinese Educational Syllabus,” said Sander Johnson, president
of ATC, “… and thus can significantly contribute to educating the children of
China both at home and in school”.
“ATC is proud to be offering a
complete program of interactive ARTHUR CD-ROM and related workbooks to help
children, parents and teachers integrate play time with a valuable learning
experience”, said Michael R. Polin, CEO of ATC.
ATC plans to showcase their ARTHUR products and
activities for the Chinese government and media, at the International Forum on
the Chinese Cultural Industry being held in Shanxi, China, September 12-15. This
year’s main themes and topics are animation and children’s education and ARTHUR
will be highlighted as a model of international cooperation in this field.
Johnson concluded, “ARTHUR has captured the hearts and imaginations of
children around the world with high moral values, rich educational content, and
pure entertainment. Now that the Chinese Government and Chinese parents are
embracing a more all-encompassing education that develops character as well as
academics, we are proud to be introducing the world of ARTHUR to Chinese
children for their enjoyment and discovery.”
