Multicultural College Preparatory Middle School in Dallas, is preparing for Open House on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Choices Leadership Academy scheduled to open in January, 2005,
Carrollton, TX (PRWEB) November 18, 2004 -- Karen Harkey, Founder and Head of
School for Choices Leadership Academy, will be interviewed by Iola Johnson for
the weekly Public Affairs program, “Positively Texas!”. Due to a schedule
change, "Positively Texas!" will air at 8:00AM (Central), Saturday, November
20th on UPN 21/KTXA-TV (Dallas-Ft. Worth).
Choices Leadership Academy
will hold an Open House on Sunday, December 5th from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 PM.
The school is located at 18106 Marsh Lane, on the northeast corner of Marsh Lane
and Frankford Road.
This unique school will be only one of six in the
United States, and the only one of its kind in Texas. The maximum roster of 100
students per year in grades five through eight will yield a 12:1
student-to-teacher ratio. Choices Leadership Academy will answer the need for a
multicultural college preparatory school that matriculates talented and gifted
students from diverse cultures for admission to local, state and national
independent college preparatory, as well as neighborhood-based high school
Advanced Placement programs –while adhering to core values of scholarship,
character, service, and leadership.
Through Choices Leadership, Inc.,
Karen Harkey’s after-school tutoring, leadership programs, and educational
summer camps have enriched the lives of hundreds of participants since 1998. She
is sought after for her expertise in developing programs for children,
specifically in the areas of creative communication, theater arts, leadership
and personal development skills. Ms. Harkey holds degrees in Speech
Communication, English and Theater Arts from The University of North Texas. She
has special training in gifted education from The University of Arkansas, and
The University of Connecticut. Karen is a member of the National Association for
Gifted Education and The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture. Karen is
married and the mother of two sons, as well as an active member of Hamilton Park
United Methodist Church.
