position as a top-ten finalist in the Miss America Pageant. Since becoming the
Miss New York State titleholder, Ellington continued work on her platform, “The
Power of Our Nation’s Educators” and has spent countless hours speaking to
children, parents, school leaders, and government officials about building
self-esteem in our nations’ children and supporting our nation’s educators.
Recognized for her outstanding achievements on
Broadway and beyond, Ellington strongly believes that incorporating the arts
into the teaching experience is crucial for helping develop highly qualified
teachers. Ellington has won numerous talent awards on the national and state
level, as well as been honored for her outstanding work in the field of
Education.
“Theatre and music both have helped me
develop qualities that a teacher should possess. I love performing and I will

improvement in a classroom setting,” says Ellington, who graduated from New York
University Tisch School of the Arts in 2004 with a BFA in Musical Theatre.
Born in Chicago, Ellington moved thirteen times
during her childhood primarily due to her father’s job relocations. As
Ellington’s family moved from state to state, she attended ten different schools
including private, public, inner-city and suburban schools. Ellington’s
instability taught her to embrace change as well as how to successfully overcome
adversity.
Today, Ellington draws on her rich life
experiences and delivers motivational speeches on a wide array of topics
including Empowering Youth, Stress Management, Self-Esteem Enhancement,
Mastering Interviews, Critical Thinking Skills, Leadership Cultivation, Eating
Disorders, Character Development and Self Development.
She is available to speak at schools, cultural events and organizations,
staff development workshops, parenting workshops, banquets, conventions and
